P90Hybrid: Round 3 – Week 1 / Day 7 – Rest

6 Oct

I was supposed to sleep in today until 6:30.  My phone rang at 4:40 and again at 5.  Poop.  No sleeping in for me.

Tomorrow is an experiment: I’m replacing Chest and Back with 30/15 from the One-on-One series.  It’s one of the few One-on-One workouts that I’ve never done.

R2 Day 77 (Week 11, Day 7) – Rest

26 Aug

I rested today.  I originally planned to do Kenpo and skip the rest day, but I rationalized that thought away…after all being sick is not really the same as rest…right?   Tomorrow we begin the push for the final two weeks and our Round of P90x will be over!

Ranger’s Report:Day 74 (Week 11, Day 4)-Rest

23 Aug

I had to utilize my rest day on Monday, and no this was not to get out of Yoga X. I”ll be doing Yoga X on Thursday to ensure that I still get all the workouts in and to finish strong. The extra house that I mentioned my wife and I have needed to have some work done to it to help it sell. With the baby out of town with my brother and sister-in-law, it was a prime opportunity for me to get some work done over there. That is where I spent my day on Monday after getting an oil change in the car. That evening we went to Moberly for a visit and retrieval of our kiddo. Again, I was NOT trying to evade Yoga X, it will still get done, no worries!

R2 Day 57 (Week 9, Day 2)- Rest X

6 Aug

Today I rested.  And I’m glad I did.  Yesterday turned out to be a long day and I’m glad I could recover with a little extra sleep this morning.

R2 Day 43 (Week 7, Day 1)- Rest

23 Jul

Today I rested.  I slept in an extra hour and a half and it felt great.  I also weighed in this morning at 183 pounds.  I started round 2 at 193 pounds so overall I’m pleased with the progress.  I haven’t touched a donut, a brownie, cake, ice cream (except for a half of a sip of one of the boys left over Sonic chocolate malt that was oh-so delicious!), a cookie or any other piece of sugary sweetness for well over a month.  On the other hand, I’ve eaten tons of protein, salad, and even chocolate milk.  In the last week I’ve overeaten on nuts and peanut butter (sometimes with grape preserves).

That’s the latest news and as we get close to the half-way mark, Round 2 is going well for me.

R2 Day 28 (Week 4, Day 7-Recovery Week)- Rest X

8 Jul

Today I rested.  I feel my energy coming back.  I think I’m going to be ready to hit the weights hard tomorrow and blast into Phase 2.

R2 Day 14 (Week 2, Day 7): Rest

24 Jun

Rest, rest, rest, rest, rest.

Sleep in.

Rest, rest, rest, rest, rest.

I may play basketball tonight, too.

Day 88 (Week 12, Day 7): Rest

27 May

Today, we rested. It feels kind of weird being done with the “hard” parts of P90x. On one hand, I’m glad I don’t HAVE to do it, but I don’t want to quit either. I’m already thinking and planning about the next “round”. But for today, we’re resting.

Oh, and Happy Birthday to Elijah! He is 6 years old today!

JAMIE’S NOTE:

7 days left.  Here is the line up: Friday- Yoga X.  Saturday- Core Synergistics.  Sunday- Kenpo X.  Monday- X Stretch.  Tuesday- Core Synergistics.  Wednesday- Yoga X.  Thursday- Rest or X Stretch.  Probably Fit Test, weigh in, measure, picture day.

I’m having a hard time getting in the right mindset to “Bring it” this coming week.  It is a recovery week with the end in site.  I am tempted to just coast into the finish line, but then I would be wasting 7 hours of exercise time.  Plus, I need to get some of that cruise weight off.

Day 81 (Week 11, Day 7): Rest

20 May

It always brings a smile to my face to type “Day 7”. I rested today–of course. And it felt great to sleep an extra 1.5 hours.

I really would like to do X-stretch. Seriously, I would. But the choice for me is X-stretch versus much needed sleep. If I was working out some other time during the day, I’d probably get the hour-long stretch in. We’ll see how this evening goes, but for now I’m satisfied going into tomorrow’s workout knowing that I’ll be finishing off the final week of resistance workouts.

Now, I have a dilemma: technically, I’ve completed every required “Day 1” workout for the P90x program. So, whatever I do tomorrow will be a duplicate.  On one hand, I would like to do “Chest and Back” because it’s been a while since I last did it, however it makes me vomit and it includes pull-ups.  On the other hand, “Chest, Shoulders and Triceps” includes no pull ups, does not make me vomit, but overall is more of a struggle for me as the push-up variations are harder.

Give me your feedback on what workout I should do.

JAMIE’S NOTE:

So glad to rest (work all day today).  One more week of hard workouts, one week of recovery workouts, then done.  Yea!

Day 80 (Week 11, Day 6): Kenpo X

19 May

80 days into P90x and I think I’ve just put in my worst performance of the entire program.  I woke up this morning and did not want to get out of bed.  I drudged downstairs to the basement and with eyes half-open started up.  However, it seemed to take me about twice as long as normal to get dressed and ready to work out.   It think it was a combination of being tired, it being Kenpo day and the stupid “Saunders-cycle” stretching to start out–I just wasn’t feeling it.

Normally, I hate Kenpo because it doesn’t really seem challenging.  That was not the case today, I felt like I was putting forth effort but I was just sapped of energy.  I didn’t use my heavy-bag and I didn’t used weights.   I’m ashamed to admit that I even had to stop and break a bit during the kicks segment to rest.  What is happening?  Am I degressing?  I’m ready for the rest day!  I wonder if my body is a little tired from the past two days of workouts and lawn-mowing (my back yard is very steep and is a workout in-itself!).

Overall, it feels good to be done with day 80–we’re almost finished with this thing!

JAMIE’S NOTE:

The two things that I dread about Kenpo are 1. the opening stretches and 2. the X Time jumping jacks.  These moves are done during the WARM UP and the BREAKS.  What is wrong with this picture?

Anyway, I felt like I had a good performance today.  I tried to be really intense and precise in my movements.

I’m now gearing up for my rest day tomorrow.
